Just a blurb about the birds

This is something I wrote last year, in an attempt to give some sort of commentary on it...

Amy here, the creator of these wretched cartoons. Allow me to explain...
Q. Why are they called Birdtown Comics? A. Because they're birds, interacting, somewhere. In an imaginary town. Online.
Q. Where did the idea come from? A. I had a dream. Seriously. I saw an old broken dirty player piano, and the dream zoomed in on the window thing - you know how on player pianos you can see through the part that shows the mechanisms inside? The spinning metal cylinders? Well, in the dream, it went past the cylinders, and there were these cartoon birds that I drew, animated and talking about life, inside the old piano! It was really trippy. When I woke up, I knew I had to draw these birds, and find out what they were saying.
Q. Why do these videos suck so bad? No audio? Not even real animation? A. This project was never meant to impress. It was sort of an explorative project.
Q. Exploring what? A. I had the dream in the spring of 2010, during a dark psychological episode. A "shut down", if you will. Right after the dream, I started making Birdtown Videos (now Birdtown Comics), and it gave me new momentum, a mission, a reason to get up and function, and eventually, a way out.
Q. A way out of what? A. The mental darkness, and lack of words to express what was going on in my head.
Q. Are you going to make any more? A. No. You're welcome.
Q. Why so many different accounts? Can't you stick with one username? A. Sorry, no. I'm not that kind of girl.
Q. These are a little weird. A. I know you are but what am I.
Q. So are you mentally intact now? Did the birds help? A. Yes! If a shrink were to ask me what happened, I could show them each video and say, "all of these things happened..."
Q. Who are you? A. I'm a 40-something Christian woman who's an artist, but also pretty conservative. Also, I've been in a wheelchair since 2013. A long-term chronic nerve illness has been working on me for about a decade. I'm married, living a simple happy life in Florida (by the beach!!) I'm from Dallas originally. Lots of people think I'm weird. I have one daughter. My dog's name is Frodo Waggins, and I love ramen. How's that for a bio?
Q. I hate these videos. A. Me too. Very sorry.
Here’s a fun video compilation, featuring these birds so shamefully described above. 😉

I really got sidetracked with that project. It really was just supposed to be the black and white videos, but I got all carried away into MSPaint land, and that’s where I got lost in making tons of junk. So, Birdtown Comics got turned into something even worse than it already was. I don’t even know to this day what all that’s about.

sorry
